I still remember how cumbersome a cycling helmet felt when somebody gifted it to me about 10 years ago. Nobody I knew cycled, nobody wanted to cycle, they even looked down on the cycle .. To get rid of that helmet was as big and funny an ordeal as getting rid of a mandrake’s head in the 1990s Malayalam film, Junior Mandrake. (What was I doing, that is an obvious thought.. My adventures with my cycle in other posts:))
It was an age all about yoga mats then. Power yoga was a new something, Bharat Takur came into news… Traditional yoga practioners tried to warn their students against these new fangled imports! But yoga which lay forlorn and unattended to made a respectful comeback in trp. When Americans were all for it, how could the urban Indian stay far behind 😛 .. Running marathons were not so mass-ly popular even though they were a few half marathons being held in a few cities. But now most of those yoga mats lie in the back of the kitchen or in a corner in the attic. 😦 😦
I wonder what will be the next in line when this cycling fad goes out of popular admiration and desire.
Some green thumb activist should work towards the health benefits of taking to ploughing.. The spade and pick axe are in need of a major face lift… 😛 😛 like the cycle was. Let’s bring back that grinding stone which gave way to the electrical mixer grinder 😉 the grinding stone would also prove to become a metrosexual star buy 😛
Goosebumps! (or poodanjam as Paambu Joy made popular in the recently released Paavada) thinking of the ultra toned and sculpted bodies we would have if we go back to maintaining a garden and a farm, and grinding a chutney on stone.. 😀 Like Jackie Chan taught the karate kid how to hang his jacket 🙂 😀 who knows.. Let’s wait and see .. 😀
I wish I had that helmet now it would make a good accessory in my living room 😛 😛
